DAY 59- Coromandel Weekend: Donut Island

That morning, we ditched that hostel as fast as we could and went to the kayak rental place. We had gotten a deal on two-two person kayaks and one single so we could paddle out for the day to explore Donut Island.

The island, named for the giant hole in the middle, is an easy paddle about a half hour from the beach. We entered the cove through this giant cave and were met with crazy blue water with jumping rocks and caves all around.

When we left Donut Island, we stopped at the island next to it for some beach lounging and lunch. Amy, Jaime and I hiked to the top of the island to see the view of Whangamata town.

When we returned the kayaks, we hopped in the car and grabbed some Tip Tip ice cream before heading out for the Hahei. When we got there, we checked into the Holiday Park (our hostel for the night). And boy, this place was a 5 Star in comparison to the place from the night before. I love clean sheet :)

FUN FACT #26: New Zealand's best ice cream is called Tip Top. It's most famous flavor, Hokey Pokey, is vanilla with butterscotch chunks. It's alright, but I'm partial to my main men, Ben and Jerry.
