DAY 80: Athol and Queenstown

We left Milford Sound and went back through the tunnel. Our next destination was Queenstown where we would spend the next 2 days and fly home to Auckland. We stopped again at the Mirror Lakes because it was slightly clear out and saw much better reflections this time!

On our way, we discovered the town of "Athol". Oh, the puns we made...

"Guys, we are INSIDE Athol right now..."
"Man, Athol is so small..."
"Wow, Athol stinks..."

Jaime had made an appointment to go skydiving the next day, but we had heard that it was going to rain. We didn't want it to be cancelled, so as soon as we got into the city, we went to the skydive place and asked if they had any available times that afternoon. They said as long as we went right then, so we scurried quickly to get her there in time. She jumped out and landed safely; we were so proud!

FUN FACT #44: The Remarkables are a mountain range that surround Queenstown and Lake Waketipu. Jaime was lucky enough to get the full view of them when she jumped out of the plane at 16,000 feet!

After Jaime jumped, we went into Queenstown and hopped on the ever tourist-y gondola that overlooked the city. It had started to rain, so we didn't get the view of the Remarkables that we wanted, but we got to see the Lake and the city at night which was very cool.

When we got back to the bottom, we bought Thai food, found our hostel, and got ready for night life in Queenstown!! We had a blast and checked out the Ice Bar, the Cowboy Bar, and Winnie's (the dance club) I looked a little peculiar wearing my hiking boots to bars, but I don't think anyone noticed...
